Slim Your Thunder Thighs with These Top Thigh Exercises

top thigh exercises
If you feel that your thighs are beginning to rub together, don't worry, there are thighs exercises perfect for slimming thunder thighs. The inner thighs perform an action called adduction, which means to bring your legs toward the midline of your body in a sideways direction. Now before you go try inner leg lifts or using your gym's adductor machine you might want to read this: spot reduction is a myth. Doing strength training exercises for your thighs is no more going to affect thigh fat than situps are going to reduce belly fat. The good news is that there are cardio exercises that burn calories (and therefore excess fat) and firm the thigh muscles, contributing to overall thinner, sexier thighs. Here are the top 5 thigh exercises.

  1. Rollerblading

Rollerblading burns an unbelievable 913 calories in one hour for a 160-pound person. The constant motion of pushing the legs out to the side and bringing them back in gives the inner and outer thighs nearly non-stop work. No matter what you weigh, rollerblading is going to burn more calories than almost any other type of exercise and unlike many activities you can rollerblade outdoors or inside a rink or skatepark.

     2. Skiing

Most people think of the quadriceps as the only part of the thighs that really work on the ski slopes. The truth is that the inner thighs have to do a lot of work to keep you stable when skiing. You also use those inner thighs when you slow down and stop. A 160-pound person burns around 609 calories in an hour of vigorous downhill skiing too.

    3. Swimming the Breaststroke

The inner thighs are a major mover when you perform the breaststroke. The motion of kicking back and bringing the legs together is a lot of stress on the inner thighs, good stress, the kind that makes the thighs burn. The breaststroke is not the highest of calorie burners though at only around 360 calories per hour. However, you can alternate between the breaststroke and other higher calorie burning strokes to burn off fat and slim the thighs.

    4. Single's Tennis

A game of single's tennis requires a lot of side shuffling and running at a diagonal, which means lots of inner thigh work. A 160-pound person burns 580 calories per hour playing tennis. A 240-pound person burns 872 calories in an hour. Tennis is great cardio and a wonderful way to strengthen your thighs and your cardiorespiratory system.

     5. Sideways Stairclimbing

Ever use a stair climber machine? They are exhausting and a great way to firm your glutes. Turn the stair climber into an inner thigh firmer by sidestepping up the stairs instead of walking straight. Just make sure you hold onto the rails so you do not risk falling. Expect to burn around 650 calories per hour.

While exercise is the only way to give you stronger muscles with better muscular endurance, you are unlikely to lose fat without changing your diet too. Consider a healthy vegan diet to lose weight and significantly lower  your risk of premature death from heart disease, the #1 killer of Americans.
