WHO's Program for How to Quit Smoking Cigarettes
Experts estimate that 838 million people will smoke in 2020. Currently, 174 countries have ratified the first global health treaty called the Framework Convention of Tobacco Control. These countries will follow the WHO's advice for how to quit cigarettes by implementing a volunteer anti-smoking program. The program is called MPOWER and consists of tobacco control measures.
University of Michigan researchers agree that doubling the price of cigarettes is the most important policy for smoking cessation. The largest threat to this anti-smoking program is that some countries rely on tobacco as a major source of income and are more concerned with money than the health of their people.
Kenneth Warner, a professor of public health at the University of Michigan, says that, "Where adopted, the tobacco control policies embedded in MPOWER have had a substantial impact on smoking, creating one of the greatest public health success stories of recent decades." He continues to say that without adopting this program, millions of premature deaths are inevitable.

Quit Smoking Naturally
Changing policies and educating people about why to quit smoking cigarettes and how to quit smoking may help some people stop, but smoking is an addiction. Addictions are not going to be broken just by raising prices, even if higher prices make it impossible for people to buy cigarettes. Methods to quit smoking naturally overcome the addiction.
The American Lung Association provides a free online program to assist individuals to quit smoking naturally called Freedom from Smoking Online. Another option is a free support program offered over the phone at 1-800-QUIT-NOW. Nicotine Anonymous has free meetings to educate people on what to do to quit smoking.

Acupuncture to Quit Smoking Cigarettes
Acupuncture is one of the oldest natural techniques used to quit smoking cigarettes. Acupuncturists insert painless needles into specific points on the body to release endorphins, which are natural pain relievers that promote relaxation.
Acupuncture helps people to quit smoking naturally by making it easier to manage withdrawal symptoms. A couple of sessions per week may help to release emotional issues and promote a healthier chi flow, which lowers stress and cigarette cravings.

Hypnosis to Quit Smoking Cigarettes
Hypnosis can help smokers by putting them into a state of deep relaxation in which there is less resistance to new ideas, like trying to quit smoking cigarettes.
Hypnosis strengthens people's resolve to give up tobacco, plus reinforces a negative attitude toward smoking. Many people have a hard time quitting because they feel like they are depriving themselves. Hypnosis helps people focus instead of how their health will improve.
Focusing on positive reasons to quit smoking cigarettes is more beneficial in the long run than implementing plans to punish people for their addictive behavior.
